Terminids are one of the two enemy factions you'll face in your mission to save Super Earth. Preparation is the best way to ensure victory, so here's everything you need to know about the various Terminids you'll encounter.

Terminids Enemy List

Terminids are the bug faction in Helldivers 2, and you'll find all missions related to them on the right side of the Galactic Map. Three of these will appear as special missions -- the Brood Commanders, Chargers, and Bile Titans. These should be seen as mini-bosses and bosses for their faction. Chargers and Bile Titans are by far, the most challenging and are best dealt with by selecting anti-tank weaponry and explosive Stratagems as part of your loadout.

If you're looking for loadout recommendations, you can find suggested combinations of Stragems, Armor, and Weapons to take in against the Terminids on our Best Loadouts page.

Click on the names in the table below to jump to each section, where we provide an overview of each of the Terminids. For more challenging enemies, you'll find more detailed pages linked below.

Scavenger

Where to Find Scavengers

Scavengers are found all over bug missions and will appear from Trivial difficulty all the way up to Helldive.

Scavengers are the common and smallest of the Termind enemies. These will be the ones you see the most in large groups. At lower levels, you'll be dealing mostly with Scavengers, but thankfully, you can take them out with just a few hits -- so any weapon will do. But the Stalwart of Liberator assault rifle will help you shred through them in seconds when you're just getting started.

When you unlock more powerful Weapons and Stratagems you'll be wiping out swarms of these in no time, meaning you won't need to think about them as much. While they move quite fast, their main job is to attract stronger Terminids to your location. At higher levels, you'll still see plenty of Scavengers, but with the Weapons you'll have unlocked at this time, they're more of an annoyance than anything else. Drop Eagle Strikes, Orbitals, or Sentry turrets to wipe them out while you concentrate on the bigger foes.

Warrior

How to Find Warriors

Warriors are found along with Scavengers all over bug missions and will appear from Trivial difficulty all the way up to Helldive. To find more detailed information on Warriors, visit our How to Defeat Warriors Page.

These are the Terminids with the razor-sharp claws and armored shells. They're still a smaller variety of Terminid, but you'll need to hit them on the soft spots underneath them to kill them or directly in the face. Alternatively, use shotguns or armor-piercing weapons to take their shells off. When you get to higher difficulties and open up more Stratagems and weapons, you'll be able to put them down almost instantly and in groups. We recommend using Eagle and Orbital Strikes or anti-tank weaponry to blow up groups of them all at one time. The Breaker shotgun is also fantastic, and it takes them out in one hit.

Hunter

Where to Find Hunters

Hunters will appear in various locations on bug missions as part of the swarm. You should start encountering these from Medium difficulty all the way up to Helldive. For more information on tackling these targeting critters, check our out How to Defeat Hunters page.

You'll see Hunters darting around and leaping from one place to another as they try to track you down. They won't give up the chase easily and will pounce on you from afar. They're a little more challenging to hit because they're so agile, but when you get them, they won't last long. Hunters are actually easier to hit when they're launching themselves at you directly if you aim up slightly to catch them on the way toward you.

Although they're easy targets to take down, these should be your priority when you begin to encounter swarms of them as you level up. You'll often see them in groups, and it's easy to get overwhelmed by them. One hit from them can take around a quarter of your health down if you're not running any Boosters or Armor buffs. Any weapon will do against them, but explosives and rapid-firing weapons will take out groups of them and get the job done fast.

Stalker

Where to Find Stalkers

Stalkers can appear all across bug missions but are tucked away near Stalker Lairs. They can be quite hard to find as the nests are hidden as dark spots on certain maps. Look for spots that match the picture below to find Stalker Lairs. For more information, check out how How to Find and Defeat Stalkers page.

Stalkers will camouflage themselves, but you can easily reveal their locations by using Smoke Grenades or stepping on spore clouds that are released from eggs around maps. They also move quickly and have similar attacks to Hunters, so think of them just as the larger variety.

Stalkers can also use their tongues to reach you from a distance, but with concentrated fire, or high-impact weaponry, they only require a few shots to go down. If you encounter Stalkers, you should prioritize taking them down first, in the same way you do Hunters. You'll also want to seek out Stalkers and complete secondary objectives to take down their hives to complete the "Stalking is illegal" achievement.

Bile Spewer

Where to Find Bile Spewers

Bile Spewers appear on bug missions from Medium difficulty all the way up to Helldive. For more information out our How to Find and Defeat Bile Spewers Page.

Although these can be killed fairly easily, they're a pain to go up against, as they'll constantly spit bile at you and it can hit from long range. If this doesn't take out your entire health bar in one go, it will at least leave you requiring a Stim. At higher difficulties, you'll face groups of these, so target their backs with rapid-firing guns or explosives to deal with them swiftly.

Bile Titans

Where to Find Bile Titans

Bile Titans will start to appear from Challenging difficulty all the way up to Helldive. They are sometimes assigned their own special quest called Eliminate Bile Titan, which can be identified by the symbol below. On the main map, this symbol will be white.

Bile Titans are enormous creatures and move quickly. Think of these as one of the bosses when you're completing bug missions. They behave like the Bile Spewers, sending out streams of bile to wipe out your health bar, and they're armored. You'll need plenty of heavy weaponry and explosives to deal with these, and you can aim for the green underside, which is their weak spot.

Bile Titans are one of the toughest enemies you'll face, so we recommend checking out our How to Defeat Bile Titans guide, which provides tips, strategies, and helpful loadout recommendations that can make taking down these giant bugs a breeze.

Chargers

Where to Find Chargers

Chargers will start to appear from Medium difficulty all the way up to Helldive. They are sometimes assigned their own special quest, called Eliminate Charger, which can be identified by the symbol below. On the main map, this symbol will be white.

Chargers tend to hone in on one member of your team at a time and will then put all their effort into taking them down. They're almost entirely armored, except for the yellow patches on their body that show their weak spots. Generally, aim for this, but find a way to create more weak spots with Anti-Tank, Explosives, and Shotguns.

Chargers can be tricky to defeat, so be sure to check out our comprehensive guide on How to Defeat Chargers for plenty of handy tips, strategies, and loadout recommendations.

Brood Commanders

Where to Find Brood Commanders

Brood Commanders can be found in hives during bug missions and will appear from Easy difficulty all the way up to Helldive. They are sometimes assigned their own special quest called Eliminate Brood Commander, which can be identified by the symbol below. On the main map, this symbol will be white. For more information on them, check out ourHow to Defeat Brood Commanders page.

Brood Commanders are also armored, but they're much slower than most Terminids. When you're getting swarmed by a group of bugs at higher levels, you'll find that these hang back while Hunters and Stalkers catch up to you quickly.

The main problem with Brood Commanders is that they'll bring a whole host of critters along with them, so dropping Sentry Guns, Eagle Strikes, or Orbitals can dispatch them and their crew pretty quickly. Perhaps the most terrifying thing you'll encounter with these creatures is that you can shoot their heads clean off, but they can still charge at you.

Shriekers

Once disputed as propaganda, it appears that Terminids have developed the ability to fly. This has resulted in the enemy type known as Shriekers. Although encountering them is rare, they can appear as a secondary objective in some Terminid operations. Similarly to Stalkers, Shriekers have their own nests. To find them, look for clusters of tall glowing mushrooms that resemble Spore Spewers.
